The Director will coordinate and lead efforts of the company to pursue a vigorous research program and provide leadership in all areas THE AVESTAGENOME PROJECTâ„¢.
The candidate will provide genetic research and scientific leadership having an extensive experience and established abilities in the design and execution of a large, complex multidisciplinary scientific enterprise that is aimed at mapping and sequencing the human genome, and determining various aspects of its function. A deep awareness is required to deal with ethical and legal issues in such genetics based research projects.
The incumbent will lead and manage cross-functional teams to successful execution with clear impact for near and long-term. The job entails implementing strategic planning which will include scheduling and defining targets, coordinating with functional heads and the finance team. The incumbent will also help to ensure appropriate level of high calibre recruiting activity to sustain rotation of talent required for the operations. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are a definite requirement. In-depth industry knowledge in the biotechnology /pharmaceutical industry would be an asset.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D., have a record of sponsored research program management Additional requirements include a strong record of peer-reviewed research publications and research funding.
Epidemiologist (job id: agt_agp_oo2)
The successful candidate will be responsible for and carry out population genetics studies for THE AVESTAGENOME PROJECTâ„¢. Applicants should have an excellent academic record, international scientific standing and relevant extensive institutional management experience of ~20 years in population studies. The incumbent will be skilled in the design, analysis and interpretation of scientific studies and have experience with large and complex data sets. A track record of effectively communicating and collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team environment is essential. Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals with population genetics would be desirable.
Responsibilities include: A leadership role in conducting genetically informative studies, such as studies of familial aggregation, candidate gene and whole genome association scans, studies of gene-gene and gene-environment interaction, linkage and gene expression. Collaboration with other investigators in the project. Statistical analysis of complex data. Preparation of grant applications
Minimum qualifications include M.D. and/or Ph.D. in (genetic) epidemiology, behaviour genetics, statistical genetics or related field and post-doctoral specific experience in genetic epidemiology.
Bio-statistician (Job id:agt_agp_oo3}
The successful candidate should have an excellent academic record, international scientific standing and relevant extensive institutional management experience of ^-20 years in statistical analysis. The incumbent will be required to conduct effective interactions with international institutions and the world scientific community at large, and carry out statistical analysis of the data obtained from THE AVESTAGENOME PROJECTâ„¢. Leadership, organizational teamwork and interpersonal skills are desirable with excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Project management, project design, project strategy, tactics and data analysis are essential.
Responsibilities include: Statistical design and sample size estimates. Planning and performing statistical analysis. Reporting statistical results in research report formats. Assist clinical database administrators in the design of project databases. Provide final quality assurance checks of research reports. Summarizing trial results fof publications or regulatory filings.
Minimum qualifications include Ph.D. in Bio-statistics plus post-doctoral research experience in handling large-scale projects that include Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis.
Head – Clinical Trials [Job id: agt_agp_oo4!
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and managing clinical trials activities for THE AVESTAGENOME PROJECTâ„¢. Thorough knowledge of Regulatory compliance for Clinical trials in India and other countries and developing and implementing Protocols is a must The candidate will extrapolate and draw conclusions from the pre-clinica! data for testing in humans, lead and manage CRO relations, manage preparation of technical and scientific publications and communicate with the physicians in the trials. The successful candidate should be Ph.D. / M.D. / M.S. / M.Sc. with relevant experience of ~ 10 years in clinical trials of new vaccines or drugs.
Head – Computational Chemistry (job id: agt.agp^oos)
The successful candidate will be responsible to carry out research by using computational chemistry, chemoinformatics and molecular modeling approaches for THE AVESTAGENOME PROJECTâ„¢ . The candidate should be Ph.D. or Masters in Computational Chemistry / Chemoinformatics / Biochemistry, with an extensive knowledge in chemistry, A good understanding of protein-ligand interactions and chemical structures will be essential, as will experience of-relevant software on a Linux platform. It is preferable that the candidate possesses one or two years of academic or industrial pharmaceutical experience. The incumbent will need to have demonstrable expertise and working experience in computational chemistry chemoinformatics research and its applications in drug discovery and will apply the latest computational techniques to design pharmacophores leading to the discovery of new drugs / medicines.
Head – Bioinformatics (Job id: agt_agp_oog)
The successful candidate will be responsible for and carry out genomic annotation, orthology detection, functional prediction methods and sequence comparison / clustering. Applicants should be Ph.D. / M.E. or equivalent in Computer Science (with Bioinformatics background) or Bioinformatics, with a sound knowledge of Perl / JAVA programming skills and hands-on experience with BioPerl and/or GMOD/Chado based applications such as Gbrowse. This role includes collaboration and communication with teams developing software to exploit the data and those using the data under varying experimental regimes. A particular goal will be to push the performance of all aspects of the systems beyond the vendors specifications where possible. Development and extension of algorithmic and data processing methods to extract maximum value from genotype technology is very critical and these methods are to be embodied in prototype software that can be shared with other development and production teams as part of their efforts. Also the incumbent will be responsible for designing clone tracking system, EST databases, Adeptâ„¢, Microarray, SNP platform and also developing data analysis pipelines and exchanges with other biological databases, besides being involved in developing web-based interfaces for THE AVESTAGENOME PROJECTâ„¢ .

The successful candidate will be responsible for and carry out cGMPs methods; viability cell counts using both manual and automated systems, bioassays, immunofluoroscence and cytochemical staining protocols. The successful candidate should be Ph.D. / M.Sc. / M.S. in Life Sciences or related discipline with ~10 years cetl culture / biology experience.
